C'è una sfida che da anni anima una città.

Una guerra di nervi, di pazienza, di precisione.

Una battaglia condotta da quattro quartieri per la conquista del primato cittadino.

E il nemico è sempre lo stesso.

Scuro di volto, fiero, immobile, temibile. Il saracino.

Torna uno degli appuntamenti più belli e sentiti dell'intera Toscana.

Torna la giostra del saracino di Arezzo.

L'appuntamento è per domenica 6 settembre quando, a partire dalle 17 , dopo che il mortaio avrà sparato il suo quinto colpo della giornata, piazza Grande si immergerà nel medioevo, colorata dalle nobili famiglie e dagli stendardi dei quattro quartieri cittadini: Porta del Foro, Porta Crucifera, Porta Sant'Andrea e Porta Santo Spirito.

Poi sarà il silenzio ad avvolgere l'arengo aretino. La battaglia entrerà nel vivo. Ad uno ad uno i giostratori dei quattro quartieri lanceranno la loro sfida, al buratto, al "re delle Indie".

In sella ai loro destrieri, lancia in mano, cercheranno di centrare l'agognato cinque senza essere colpiti dal "mazzafrusto", l'arma insidiosa di cui il Saracino è dotato.

Ad ogni rincorsa un brivido percorre la schiena di tutti gli aretini, di tutti i quartieristi.

Il cavallo parte veloce, la lancia si stende, un ultimo sospiro della piazza. Poi il colpo. Un secondo per capire il punteggio. E poi è solo gioia o lacrime.

 

INFORMAZIONI TECNICHE:

Il suggerimento è di vivere la giostra dove più è sentita, ovvero, in mezzo ai quartieristi più sfegatati. I posti in piedi tra l'altro sono anche convenienti, solo 5 euro. Per chi invece vuole stare comodo il costo inizia a salire: si va dai 17 ai 42 euro a biglietto, che tra l'altro deve essere prenotato per tempo.
